The Eternal Parent The Absolute, The Infinite Unmanifest
In the secret doctrine and we find the following aphorism of creation: The Eternal Parent was wrapped in the sleep of the cosmic night, light there was not: for the flame of spirit was not yet rekindled. Time there was not: for change had not re-begun. Things there were not: for form had not re-presented itself. Action there was not: for there was no things to act. The pair of opposites there was not: for there were no things to manifests polarity. The Eternal Parent, Causeless Indivisible Changeless Infinite rested in the unconscious dream-less sleep, there was nothing neither real or apparent. "The Great Principal" is unknowable. And this must be so for only the Great Principle itself can comprehend its own nature and being. All of the guesses and speculations of the theologians and the metaphysicians regarding the inner nature of the Great Principle is but childish efforts of mortal mind to grasp the secret of the Infinite. And still more presumptuous are those who attempt to ascribing to the Infinite the personality, quality, properties, characteristics and attributes of themselves. Ascribing to the Infinite the human emotions, feelings and characteristics, even down to the pettiest qualities of mankind. Such attributes as jealousy ,susceptibility to flattery and praise, desire for offerings and worship. All the other survivals from the days of the childhood of the race. Such ideas are not worthy of grown men and women and are rapidly being discarded. The Great Principle so infinitely transcends all personality, that it is childish to think or speak of it in the terms of personality. In its essential nature it is so infinitely above the plane of human personality. It is practically an insult to think of it in terms of personality. Believing as we do, that only scriptures contain such knowledge, we have meekly excepted their priestly concept. Which is personal divinity, moral and spiritual perfection. Yet how can perfection create imperfection, and we; its creation, are imperfect. How could divinity create savagery, yet nature we know is savage. This is the paradox posed by religion, and he who solves it solves also the riddle of the universe. The problem then resolves itself into this: undeniable nature versus a human concept. Right knowledge of Causation would determine this and when we examine the factors involves, we find the human concept unnecessary. Insensitive earth, and savage nature require no moral qualities but only a creative intelligence. Now we know there is such an intelligence in all created things, but it is neither moral, personal or self-conscious. We call it a Principle. Here then is the solution to the paradox, Principle not personality, potential not perfection, one vast nothing qualitative, all things quantitative and creative. This is the true beginning, and therefore the beginning of truth. It is asked now that the attention be directed to the concept of the Infinite Source of all things, from which all things proceeds. The Eternal Parent the Infinite Unmanifest, is represented by the symbol of the circle, having nothing outside of itself and nothing within its self.
