The Two Selves

Tiger Man, Animal Man The Two Selves

The Two Selves (Human and Divine)

Tiger Man, Animal Man we are both human and Divine. The inner or spiritual name of the tiger in Sanskrit is hu. The Bengal Tiger is the most common subspecies, and is found in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Nepal. When hu is combined with man we derive at the Human or Tiger-Man or as some would say the animal-man in a body.

Sanskrit is the classical language of India and the liturgical language of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It is also one of the 22 official languages of India. The name Sanskrit means "refined", "consecrated" and "sanctified". It has always been regarded as the 'high' language and used mainly for religious and scientific discourse. Hindu authorities ascribe a date to the Sanskrit language as far back as 10,000 B.C. And this is the origin of the word human and how it got into society. Describing the the two natures in man Ralph M. Lewis in his book Behold The Sign has this to say.

ILLUSTRATION

“IN THIS ILLUSTRATION of archaeological symbolism we see the idea of the duality of our natures represented by two Tigers at war(Human and Divine). Throughout our earthly lives, there is a constant contest between the soul and the animal body. In this symbolism we see the "soul" represented by the winged Tiger-man, capable of walking the earth and flying through space, but we see it being attacked by the strong Tiger-man of the earth plane who wants to argue against every opportunity of dominance given to the soul. It wants to be the preeminent and overpowering " mind and force in our daily thinking and activities". One or the other of these two natures in man must win eventually. The future happiness and progress of man depends upon the eventual supremacy of the soul. It is man's duty to learn of ways and means of giving the inner self and divine nature of man every opportunity to assert its magnificent mastership”.

Profoundly Just as it is Profoundly True.

One of the ways and means discovered by the masters of old was applying the Law of Neutralization. The reader must realize that the laws made by men are not always "God's laws" . Viewed from the inner planes of being, God's laws are often contrary to man's. The great avatars and teachers, who have brought spiritual truth to this world, all agree that, "As you do to others, so will you be done by." All of them have taught, "Love thy neighbor as thyself," "That no man is altogether evil; that within all things is the divine spirit of God; and that the ultimate end of all being is God realization."

The initiates of old warned their disciples that an image is not a reality but merely the objectification of a subjective idea. The images, of the gods were not designed to be objects of worship but were to be regarded merely as emblems or reminders of invisible powers and principles. Similarly, the body of man must not be considered as the individual but only as the house of the individual, in the same manner that the temple was the House of God. In a state of grossness and perversion man's body is the tomb or prison of a divine principle; in a state of unfoldment and regeneration it is the House or Sanctuary of the Deity by whose creative powers it was fashioned. "Personality is suspended upon a thread from the nature of Being," declares the secret work. Man is essentially a permanent and immortal principle; only his bodies pass through the cycle of birth and death. The immortal(Soul)is the reality; the mortal(Body)is the unreality. During each period of earth life, reality thus dwells in unreality, to be liberated from it temporarily by death and permanently by illumination.

It is difficult for many to realize that they are actual universes; that their physical bodies are a visible nature through the structure of which countless waves of evolving life are unfolding their latent potentialities. Yet through man's physical body not only are mineral, plant, and an animal kingdom evolving, but also unknown classifications and divisions of invisible spiritual life. Just as cells are infinitesimal units in the structure of man, so man is an infinitesimal unit in the structure of the universe. A theology based upon the knowledge and appreciation of these relationships is as profoundly just as it is profoundly true.

The Wings of the Tiger and it's Symbology

Higher Plane of Consciousness

There is a Higher Plane of Consciousness, as well as the ordinary Lower Plane, and the Master by rising mentally to the Higher Plane causes the swing of the mental pendulum to manifest on the Lower Plane, and he, dwelling on his Higher Plane, escapes the consciousness of the swing backward.

And dear reader this is exactly the dilemma we find ourselves in today. Observe well the ILLUSTRATION, remembering that observation is the door-way to consciousness and consciousness is the door-way to knowledge. The vicious and aggressive tiger is always on the attack, which is it's nature and nature in this case means the naturalness of being. So it is natural that the objective mind should attack the soul mind. In the Christian Bible in the book of Romans the 7th chapter Paul speaks out to warn and awaken the people of his day concerning this objective mind and body I quote from that passage. He begins his discourse in a very deliberate way.

1st verse “ Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth.” Then further in the same chapter continuing at the

15th verse ..this is what Paul had to say “ For that which I do I allow not, for what I would, that do I not, but what I hate, that do I.”

16th verse, “If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.”

17th Now then it is no more I that do it, but law (sin) that dwelleth in me.

18th For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing, for to will is present with me ; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19th For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20th Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21st I find then a Law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22nd For I delight in the Law of God after the inward man.

23rd But I see another Law in my members, warring against the Law of my Mind, and bringing me into captivity to the Law of (sin) which is in my members.

24th O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

The Secret Method

The Master polarizes himself at the Positive Pole of his Being the "I Am" pole(the tigerman with wings) rather than the pole of personality, and by "refusing" and "denying" the operation of Rhythm, raises himself above its plane of consciousness, and standing firm in his Statement of Being he allows the pendulum to swing back on the Lower Plane without changing his Polarity. The essence of this secret teaching is that the wise, perceiving the inevitable reaction following action, the ebb tide following the high tide, manage to escape the consequences of the reaction by rising to their higher realms or planes of consciousness (The TigerMan with wings) just before the time of the backward swing of the emotional pendulum, thus allowing the reactionary movement to be manifested only on their lower planes of consciousness while the Ego dwells serenely on the upper plane. This is using The Law of Neutralization, to neutralize The Law of Rhythm.

This is accomplished by all individuals who have attained any degree of self-mastery, whether they understand the law or not. Such persons simply "refuse" to allow themselves to be swung back by the pendulum of mood and emotion, and by steadfastly affirming the superiority, they remain polarized on the Positive pole. The Master, of course, attains a far greater degree of proficiency, because he understands the law which he is overcoming by a higher law, and by the use of his Will he attains a degree of Poise and Mental Steadfastness almost impossible of belief on the part of those who allow themselves to be swung backward and forward by the mental pendulum of moods and feelings.

Remember, always, however, that you do not really destroy the Principle of Rhythm, for that is indestructible. You simply overcome one law by counter-balancing it with another (The TigerMan with wings), and thus maintain an equilibrium. The laws of balance and counter-balance are in operation on the mental as well as on the physical planes, and an understanding of these laws enables one to seem to overthrow laws, whereas he is merely exerting a counter-balance.
