Reincarnation, or The Transmigration of The Soul

The purpose of the soul, it's life, is not happiness but experience. Sorrow and pain are our most benevolent teachers, while the joys of "life" are but fleeting. This seems a stern doctrine and the heart cries out passionately at even the thought that it may possibly be true. Never the less, it is true, and upon examination it will be found that its not such a stern doctrine after all.

The primary and essential reason for reincarnation is the Cosmic Will, which impresses itself upon the Soul, appearing in it as a desire for manifestation. This is not desire for life in the ordinary sense of the word, but rather for a more perfect manifestation, a "desire" to feel itself more thoroughly alive and active.

We are on the path of progress, learning the lessons of life through experience, life after life, and storing away the essence of these impressions which go to form the basis of the “character” of the individual when it is "reborn".

Why The Soul Returns

It is not outside pressure which drives us back to Earth: we come back because we want to come. If the soul did not want to come back, it would not return: but so long as any desire remains for anything that this world can give, it will want to return . Thus we are not driven, against our will, to this world of pain and suffering, but our own intense hunger for what this world has yet to offer, this is what brings us back.

As long as Man is imperfect, so long as we have not assimilated everything this world can give, and utilized it to the fullest, so that we do not want anything more from this world. If the soul has not reached this point in its progress it must return to re-birth. Understand, that rebirth or the conditions thereof; are not forced upon the individual, but on the contrary, the Soul is attracted toward rebirth by reason of the presence of certain desires in its character or rather by reason of the essence of its desires.

Every individual is reborn into certain environments solely because it has within itself certain unsatisfied desires which could be satisfied only in just those environments. Each Soul contains within itself the attracting force of certain sets of desire, and this force attracts to the individual certain conditions and experiences and also attracts such experiences and conditions to the individual.

Unsatisfied Desires

There is no element of punishment, or of injustice in the operation of this "law", for it gives to each just what is required to meet its indwelling unsatisfied desires. These conditions and experience will serve to burn out of the soul certain desires which are holding it back in its progress. The destruction of these desires will make possible future advancement. Each of us contains within ourselves the attracting force of certain sets of desire. And this force attracts to us certain conditions and experiences and also attracts such experiences and conditions to us. It gives to each just what is required to meet it's indwelling unsatisfied desires. These are the conditions and experience which will serve to burn out of you certain desires which are holding you back in your progress.

The Value of Experience

The value of experience in each earth-life are not lost to us at all. Because such experiences may not be fully remembered, yet they form a part of the materials of which our "minds" are composed. They exist in the form of feelings, affinities, attractions, repulsions, etc., and are just as much in evidence in our lives as are the experience of yesterday, which are well remembered. We are what we are today by reason of these very experiences which we fail to remember, they exist in our character and have helped to mold and shape it. All men and women are what they are by reason of what they have gone through, have lived out and outlived. And though these happening; scenes, circumstances, occurrences and experiences have faded from the memory, their effects are imprinted upon the fabric of our character.

And the individual of today is different from what he would have been had the happenings or experience not entered into his life. You are what you are today by reason of these very experiences which you fail to remember- they exist in your character and have helped mold and shape it.
